Geography
Why is Geography important?
At Wickhambrook Primary Academy, all of our teaching and learning builds on our core values; Achievement, Commitment, Resilience, Respect and Responsibility.
Our geography provision aims to create excitement, curiosity, creativity, compassion and deep thinking to help children understand the world that they live in. The study of geography equips students with the tools to participate, discuss, critically evaluate, develop perspective and reach justified conclusions about topics that affect their everyday lives. At Wickhambrook, we believe in a high quality education that will enable pupils to gain these skills.
At Wickhambrook Primary Academy, our Geography curriculum encompasses an understanding and consideration for current world situations, predominantly the issue of Climate Change. We endeavour to ensure our pupils are aware of the impact of humans on our planet and what we can do as a community to combat Climate Change. The Geography curriculum includes areas of study to increase pupils’ knowledge of Climate Change, throughout the year groups.
