Safeguarding
Safeguarding at Wickhambrook Primary Academy
Wickhambrook Primary Academy is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare, both physical and emotional, of every pupil both inside and outside of the school premises.
Wickhambrook has an ethos where our pupils feel secure, are encouraged to talk and are listened to. Children in our school family will be able to talk freely to any member of staff at our school if they are worried or concerned about something. All staff and regular visitors, through induction and training, know how to recognise a disclosure from a child and know how to manage this. We don’t make promises to any child and we don’t keep secrets.

Please read our Child Protection Policy and Procedures which is available from our Attachments section on this page.
Prevent Concerns
If you have a PREVENT disclosure/concern during the school day, please contact one of our Safeguarding staff who will decide whether to refer to Channel Panel.
If a child makes a PREVENT disclosure when the above Safeguarding Leads are not available and there is an imminent risk of harm it is your responsibility to contact the police on 999.
All disclosures/concerns must be recorded on a yellow sheet and handed to a Safeguarding Lead.
Working in partnership
There are occasions when our concern about a child means that we have to consult other agencies. Unauthorised absences, for instance, may be referred to partner agencies such as Suffolk County Council’s Children’s Social Care, Special Educational Needs or Children Missing in Education teams. Whilst we would always aim to work in partnership with parents there may be exceptions to this when concerns are raised for the protection of a child.
The procedures which we follow have been laid down by the Suffolk Safeguarding Partnership, and Unity Schools Partnership has adopted a Safeguarding Policy in line with this for the safety of all.
